Vendor appreciation day at Brownstown Farmers Market

Tuesday, September 25th is Vendor Appreciation Day at the Brownstown Farmers Market.  The second year of the Brownstown Farmers Market has been a huge success and that is due to the devotion of the farmers market’s vendors.

The vendors are being celebrated for their support throughout the market season. Each vendor will receive lunch and a thank you certificate.

Some of the highlights of the 2012 Brownstown Farmers Market were Kids Day at the Market which included a petting zoo by A & A Farms and craft project tent sponsored by Home Depot.  Over 200 children visited the Market.  Another big hit at the Market was Public Safety Day which included tours of United States Border Patrol vehicles, Brownstown Township Fire Trucks and the Downriver Swat Tank.

This Tuesday, September 25th is the last day of the Brownstown Farmers Market.  The 26 week season had its up and downs mostly weather related.  There were plenty of days with 95+ degree temperatures and at least one torrential downpour that closed the Market for the day in August.

Sue Trussell, Brownstown Assistant DDA Director said, “We are thankful for our loyal vendors that had such great products to offer our customers and we look forward to another successful year in 2013. And we are also very appreciative of our loyal customers that came back to the Market every week.”

CHOW DOWN IN BROWNSTOWN – GREAT SUCCESS!

Over 500 people braved the 95+ degree temperature to partake in the offerings at the first event Chow Down in Brownstown – Food Truck Rally at the Greater Detroit Auto Auction in Brownstown on Wednesday, June 20th.

The Brownstown DDA along with the Michigan Mobile Food Vendor Association and the Greater Detroit Auto Auction worked together to bring this event to Brownstown.  It was well received by the hunger patrons.  One of the favorites were the burritos from El Guapo Grill

and the Travel Piggy sandwich from Ned’s TravelBurgers.  Co-owner Scott Steigerwald said, “

The event was awesome and we can’t wait to come back to Brownstown!”

The children in attendance enjoyed the face-painting by Rebecca Lowe along with the ice cream treats provided by Treat Dreams.  To further the enjoyment of the evening, music was provided by The Incredibles.

Jeff Karpinski of the Greater Detroit Auto Auction was pleased with the turnout, too and was happy that so many customers from the Food Truck Rally visited the auction.

Sue Trussell, Brownstown Township Assistant DDA Director said, “The Food Truck Rally was a great success.  We will continue to plan events such as this to showcase our community. I am pleased that we got such a wonderful response.”
